Spreading a recurring obligation across four smaller payments smooths cash flow, keeps a single large debit off the books in a tight month, and lines up neatly with how many small companies already think about their year. Offering that option is a service, not a scheme, and the amount is disclosed plainly on the way in.

Multiply Before You Compare

Swyft Filings prices registered agent service at $149, billed every quarter. Four of those payments land in a calendar year, which annualizes to roughly $596. We found no separate first-year discount during our July 2026 check, so that figure describes both the opening year and the ones that follow.

The reason the annualized number deserves the spotlight is that nobody else in this market bills this way. Set $149 beside a competitor's yearly rate and the quarterly figure looks modest, occasionally the most modest number on the screen. It is not comparable until you convert it. Any price that requires multiplication before an apples-to-apples reading is a price worth converting first and judging second.

There is a small irony in the cadence for California entities specifically. Your LLC's Statement of Information comes due every two years, not every year, so the state asks for your attention on this file eight times less often than Swyft Filings asks for your card. The compliance calendar here is unusually quiet. The billing calendar attached to that service is not.

One further consequence of the split cycle is worth naming. A quarterly charge is easier to lose track of than an annual one, because no single debit is large enough to prompt a review and there is no yearly moment when the question "do we still want this" naturally arises. Annual billing forces that question once a year whether you want it or not, which is mildly inconvenient and occasionally saves people several hundred dollars.

Timing a Swyft Exit Around the Quarter and the Filing

California asks nothing for the state's half of this. Sent outside your scheduled filing periods it is free, and it costs $20 only if it travels with your regular biennial statement. Get the new agent in place before the statement goes up, since the appointment transfers in a single motion and the record should never show a blank.
